I had a EDIS system running and changed to a COP setup with direct driven coils with 4 BIP 373 and with sequential fuel and spark. I had this running well when I melted two coils from being to close to the ex. manifold. I decided to go with a CNP setup. I am using LS2 truck coils. I have a P&H injector driver board for my low Z injectors. I have a cam sensor and a 36-1 crank sensor. I have added the 4 2N4033 driver circuts needed. I should also say that this is for a Conquest TSI with a 4 clyinder 2.6 engine that it has a garrett turbo and a custom made intake with port injection with four 75 Lb. injectors I have a GM throttle body with an IAC valve. I have a MS2 and running the latest code 303X. My problem is that I got the engine running but the exhaust will get red hot and it acts like the timming is way low. slow excellration anw will only rev to 3000 rpm. I have set the TS to a fixed timming and have the timmimg on NO. 1 at 10 BTDC with a timming light. All coils are firring. I had to chang the trigger wheel settings, tooth #1 angel(BTDC) from 673.0 which worked with the COP setup to get 10 Deg BTDC to 588.0 to get 10 Deg with the CNP setup. I thought this was strange, I did not touch the cam sensor or the crank sensor durine the change. I have turned the timming up 20 degrees and it seems to help some but not much befor it starts to kick back when cranking so I set it bact to 10 deg BTDC. The engine seems to idle rich but idles ok with no skipping. I also have a problem that the WUE never shuts off now. The engine dose not rev and the exhaust is getting very hot. I will attach my msq and a data log that I made and will ask for some guidence on getting this running.
Thanks
Re: Coil Near Plug (CNP) setup with LS2 truck coils
You must have inverted the output which means you have way too much dwell and your timing will change with RPM. So you should try to invert the output but check to make sure that it's actually the issue. And if that's the problem then you'll need to go back to the same tooth #1 angle you had.
Re: Coil Near Plug (CNP) setup with LS2 truck coils
Thanks Jean, I believe that was it.
I had the output set on going high (inverted) which worked with my COP setup and I changed it to going low (normal) and reset the timming to 10 degrees BTDC which now my trigger wheel tooth #1 angel setting is now 625. The engine is now responsive like it should be. I have not driven the car yet. I need to complete the wiring harness to the coil pack and do all the other checks first be for test driving the car. I will post the results when I test drive the car.
