Default The Start of my TD Explorer

Hello Everyone here is my first Tear Drop build and things are looking good.
The floor turned out very sturdy and we added a Vrail down the middle for more support.
We even laid some duck tape to seal the deal.

This Thanksgiving weekend will start the walls sense I have 4 Days off

Here is the wall after cutting it the shape I wanted

    Here is some bracing work.

Here is the rear support hatch brace.

And the best part after 14 Hr's and cold hear is the walls standing!

Hello everybody! here is my update of the trailer build, The weather has been damp so progress has been slow lately, but is coming together good.

    My vent

    Have the sides cut out

    The trailers really taking shape!

So i figured out how to get the curve in my doors, First I made 3/8 to 1/2 inch cuts in the key areas to bend. I used clamps to hold the piece in place
with a bead of liquid nails under it.

Then after using a finish nailer to nail it down I filled the slits with liquid nails.

Here is the start of the Galley hatch.

I still have some Bracing to do but figured i would let this set and cure for a week and get back at it this weekend.

Put the doors on and have them swinging perfict with a little trimming and
sanding. Just so you know the plastic living hinge works awsome!!. If you notice I flopped the door outside pieces on accident but they are pretty much the same so it didnt matter to much. I put my shore power plug in
Wow it looks like a camp trailer!! Cant imagine its only been a few months or so when I started!!

Here is a shot from the inside, the luane 1/8 wood is not to easy to work with on tight bends but it worked out good with a air nailer with small staples. Here is my hatch and even has an quick pull for emergency look outs or bail outs haha.

Cool Re: The Start of my TD Explorer

I like what you are doing. Looks like you are doing a professonal job with the project.
What did you use for the foam in the walls? It looks like some sort of spray in foam.
I can hardly wait to see the finished project. What will you use on the outside to protect it from the elements?
Great post and pictures keep them comming.

Thanks Dan!, The foam is a 4x8 1-1/2 thick foil backed sheet from HomeDepot. Its around 16.00 for a 4X8 sheet but goes a long way and works great. As for the out side I was going to go Aluminum but its pretty expencive, so I have been looking for diffrent ways to skin it on a budget and found FRP 4x8 sheets its what they use on shower walls and walk in freezers. Its fiberglass reinforced and gel coated so it should hold up pretty good. Also it is paintable so I might match my rig to it I went camping this last weekend in it with just paint on the outside and wow It was so nice and people were checking it out!!. I will post pics of it soon.
